Summary

A recent reanalysis of forgotten cuneiform tablets from Ur, rediscovered in the archives of the University of Pennsylvania's Museum of Anthropology, reveals that the strategic conquest of Susa was achieved by Ur-Nammu(k), the founder of the Third Dynasty of Ur, rather than his successor as previously believed. This challenges long-standing historical narratives and redefines the significance of Ur-Nammu(k)'s reign in Mesopotamia's political landscape. The study leverages Woolley's original excavations, offering new insights into the dynamics of early urban dominance through epigraphic evidence.
