Summary
Research on the toponymy of Saryarka, a vast UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Kazakhstan, reveals that its study is best approached through interdisciplinary methods combining geographical, linguistic, and historical sciences. The findings highlight the importance of integrating descriptive, historical, lexicon-geographical, comparative-geographical, cartographic (GIS), and statistical methods to accurately analyze toponyms. These methods are selected based on the unique characteristics of place names, their historical development, and the geographical features of the region. The study also emphasizes the role of geoinformation systems (GIS) and cartography in enhancing toponymic research, providing a robust framework for understanding the complex layers of naming in this significant landscape.
