Summary
Approximately half of the geotourism offerings in the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site effectively communicate the site's scientific value, moving beyond mere aesthetic appeal to highlight its geological significance. This study analyzed 33 mediation approaches using a multicriteria framework, revealing that while some succeed in revealing the site's patrimonial dimension, others fail to connect visitors with its scientific heritage. The research underscores the potential of geotourism to diversify mountain tourism while fostering awareness of geological landscapes, though challenges remain in ensuring consistent scientific communication.
