Summary

Most Quechua hymns sung today in Cusco trace their origins to the late colonial period, emerging clearly only by the mid-19th century. This study proposes a chronology for the evolution of these hymns from the 16th to the 20th century, analyzing their historical development and suggesting that current forms represent a distinct genre not well-documented before the 1800s. The research examines existing texts to reconstruct this history, offering insights into the enduring expressions of Andean Christianity through linguistic and cultural analysis.
