Summary
Research on the ecophysiology of Chirostoma Jordani, an endemic fish species in Mexico, reveals significant population dynamics influenced by water quality in Xochimilco's Cuemanco canal. The study found that the smallest sizes and weights were recorded during February and April, indicating a spawning period, while the largest were noted in November. Growth rates were higher from March to May (0.19±0.05 mm/day) compared to August to November (0.04±0.03 mm/day). Water quality parameters such as temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, and nitrite levels significantly impacted the population's abundance and growth. These findings provide crucial insights into the life strategies of C. Jordani and are essential for its future management in Xochimilco and under controlled conditions.
