Summary
A recent study has significantly expanded the known biodiversity of Wrangel Island by identifying 69 new species of lichens, mosses, and liverworts. Among these, seven species are previously unknown to the Russian Far East, while two lichen species and three liverwort taxa represent first records for the Chukotka Autonomous Area. The research highlights the ecological diversity of the island, including rare moss species such as Funaria arctica and Schistidium umbrosum. The study utilized field observations and ecological descriptions to document these new findings, contributing valuable data to the understanding of cryptogam flora in this remote Arctic region.
