Summary
During the restoration of the murals in the Trinity Gate Church at Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (1979–1991), restorers uncovered previously hidden paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries, enriching the monument's history with new evidence. This discovery filled gaps in existing archival records, providing insights into past restoration interventions. The study analyzed scientific approaches and technologies used during this period, evaluating their effectiveness on the monument while introducing new data on mural material composition. By synthesizing tried-and-tested techniques, the research offers a concrete framework for future conservation efforts at UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
