Summary
A study on the Historic Monuments Zone of Tlacotalpan, Veracruz, Mexico, reveals significant gaps in youth awareness regarding climate change impacts and resilience strategies. Research involving 411 high school students from Cotaxtla, Tlacotalpan, and José Cardel, along with 16 key informant interviews, found limited knowledge about vulnerability management and regional climate-related risks. This insight led to the design of environmental education workshops aimed at enhancing understanding of climate impacts, mitigation, and adaptation actions. Engaging 436 students and 42 teachers, these workshops fostered community networks, risk mapping, and increased awareness among participants. The initiative marks a foundational step in ongoing efforts to strengthen social resilience against climate risks through educational interventions.
