Summary
A whitenose shark, Nasolamia velox, has been documented traveling over 400 km from the mainland coast of Mexico to the oceanic Revillagigedo Archipelago, significantly expanding its known distribution range. This finding challenges previous assumptions about the species' limited coastal habitat in the Eastern Pacific and suggests potential connectivity between the Gulf of California and the Revillagigedo Archipelago. The study used acoustic telemetry and video recordings from 2014 to 2016 to track this unprecedented migratory movement, providing new insights into the species' behavior and ecology.
