DEM-based analysis of tectonic geomorphologic characteristics and tectonic activity intensity of the Dabanghe River Basin in South China Karst

World Heritage Site: South China Karst

Summary

A DEM-based analysis reveals that tectonic activity in the Dabanghe River Basin, South China Karst, is most intense midstream and decreases eastward, aligning with seismic intensity patterns. The study used geomorphic parameters like Hypsometric Integral, Asymmetry Factor, and Stream-Gradient to assess tectonic influence on landforms, including Huangguoshu Waterfall. Findings confirm that fault systems, particularly the Yadu–Ziyun Fault, control differential tectonic activity, offering a method to evaluate crustal stability in the region.
