Summary
Research on Lisca Bianca Islet, Panarea Volcano, Aeolian Islands, reveals the cyclical formation of hydrothermal breccias through progressive fracturing and sealing by natroalunite. These breccias, characterized by jigsaw-fit clast textures and variable hydrothermal alteration, are distinguished from primary volcanic facies. The study identifies five distinct facies based on grain size, clast fabric, and alteration degree, providing insights into the complex interplay between fluid pressure, fracturing, and permeability in shallow hydrothermal systems. This work advances understanding of hydrothermal processes in submarine to subaerial volcanic complexes.
