Summary
The New Theban Tombs Mapping Project (NTTMP) has identified a critical gap in the documentation of Ancient Thebes' necropolis. Since the last comprehensive mapping effort by F. Kampp in 1989, no up-to-date maps have been established to include newly discovered tombs, particularly after the demolition of al-Qurna village in 2005. The project aims to address this by creating a general map of the entire necropolis with full documentation and a consistent numbering system, building on previous surveys like those conducted by Porter & Moss and P. Piccione. This initiative seeks to enhance the value of newly discovered tombs, attract scholarly attention, and raise funds for their preservation, thereby contributing significantly to the archaeological and topographical understanding of this historic site.
