Recent advancements in LiDAR technology have revolutionized the understanding of Angkor Wat's landscape, revealing a complex far more extensive and intricate than previously believed. This breakthrough has enabled archaeologists to map hidden terrain beneath dense vegetation, uncovering previously unknown relationships between site elements and exposing a massive, unique structure that was hitherto unknown. The study, which combines high-resolution LiDAR data with targeted ground-based research, provides unprecedented chronological resolution and challenges long-standing assumptions about the Angkor Wat complex.
