Summary

Research reveals that Cretaceous sedimentation in the Western Sikhote-Alin and Lower Amur region occurred in two distinct stages, with Berriasian–Valanginian deposits forming as part of an accretionary wedge (Gorin terrane) in subcontinental settings, while Aptian–Cenomanian deposits (Chayatyn terrane) originated from a volcanic arc. Geochronological and paleomagnetic studies confirm the tectonic nature and paleogeographic evolution of these sediments, showing significant latitude shifts and structural changes over time. The findings highlight the dynamic geological processes shaping this UNESCO World Heritage Site, providing insights into its complex accretionary history.
