Summary

Despite efforts to preserve Xochimilco human activity continues to degrade the area. A study by Azamar Alonso et al. (2019) evaluates the effectiveness of rescue policies and development programs aimed at mitigating this degradation. The research combines social and environmental analysis, including resident experiences, to assess social welfare and identify root causes of ongoing issues. Findings highlight the need for more targeted interventions to address both environmental and social dimensions of heritage conservation in Xochimilco.
