Summary

Modern tourists' growing interest in food and traditional gastronomy can significantly boost rural economies, particularly through culinary tourism. A study of 720 visitors to Cáceres, Spain, revealed that such tourists—often with above-average incomes—are more likely to integrate local products into their diets long-term, benefiting agricultural sectors sustainably. This challenges conventional tourism-agriculture relationships by positioning culinary experiences as a key driver for cooperation, offering valuable insights for destination management and marketing strategies.
