Summary

A portable single nozzle rainfall simulator was successfully calibrated for soil erodibility studies in the Hyrcanian Forests, specifically at the Afra Chal site. The calibration revealed that a simulated rainfall intensity of 32.4 mm/h, occurring every 20 years for 20 minutes, had a kinetic energy of 25.06 Jm-2mm-1 and raindrop velocity of 780 cm/s with an average diameter of 3 mm. The coefficient of uniformity for rainfall was within acceptable limits (81 to 82%), ensuring the simulator's reliability for field experiments. This calibration provides a robust tool for assessing soil erodibility in these unique forests, contributing to the understanding of their resilience and vulnerability to erosion.
