Summary
The iconographic program of the Wooden Churches of Maramureș, despite being created by multiple artists over the 18th and early 19th centuries, exhibits a thematic unity rooted in the Triodion—a liturgical period with distinct theological themes. This study reveals that the churches' iconography not only reflects the theological messages of the Triodion but also adopts compositional solutions from its engravings. By analyzing both the liturgical significance and visual elements of the Triodion, researchers demonstrate how these influences shaped the artistic expression of Maramureș's wooden churches, offering new insights into the cultural and religious synthesis of the region.
