Summary
A critical analysis of physical accessibility policies in Latin American university cities reveals a paradox: institutions dedicated to driving societal change often lag behind global practices addressing climate change, urban congestion, and health. The study examined four campuses—Río de Janeiro, Caracas, and Buenos Aires—to assess how mobility challenges hinder their potential as agents of innovation. Findings underscore the need for universities to leverage their intellectual and social capacity to model sustainable, inclusive urban solutions. By questioning existing practices and mobilizing communities, these institutions could serve as catalysts for broader societal transformation.
