Summary
Archaeomagnetic dating of tiles from the Parish of Nuestra Señora de la Merced in Alta Gracia, Argentina, has provided a precise age range of 1780–1806 for their installation. This finding significantly refines the chronology of the Jesuit Mission of Alta Gracia by associating the tile-laying with the administration period of José Rodríguez and his son Manuel (1772–1809). The study used the SHA.DIF.14k geomagnetic field prediction model to rule out earlier Jesuit-era placement or association with Viceroy Santiago de Liniers' brief stay in 1810, offering critical insights into the site's historical timeline.
