Summary

A study reveals that 'Golden Gates' were a common feature in churches and monasteries founded by Serbian royalty, including Studenica Monastery. These gilded doors symbolized the transition from sin to grace and served as entrances to the heavenly Jerusalem. The research analyzes historical evidence, such as the depiction of despot Stefan's founder ensemble in Resava monastery, which shows a golden door matching his attire. By examining other significant royal foundations, the study concludes that such gates were prevalent across multiple Serbian monasteries, including Ravanica, Lesnovo, and Gracanica.
