Summary

Leptospirosis incidence in Kandy district, Sri Lanka, is strongly correlated with local weather variables, including rainfall, humidity, and temperature. Research indicates that peaks in wet days, heavy rainfall (>100 mm), minimum and average temperatures, and humidity are followed by increased leptospirosis cases, while reduced rainfall correlates with lower incidence. The study analyzed weekly data from 2006 to 2015 using wavelet analysis, revealing that the climate in Kandy is highly conducive to leptospirosis transmission, warranting targeted preventive measures during high-risk weather conditions.
