Summary
Achaemenid architectural decoration at Pasargadae and Persepolis, Iran, featured distinct geometric patterns with volutes, unlike the monochrome floors of Persepolis. Glazed brick fragments from Persepolis revealed the use of lead antimony for yellow hues, copper for greenish tones, iron for raised gray lines, and alkaline earths for white outlines, suggesting sophisticated material techniques. Though fragment size limits full motif reconstruction, circular designs with raised borders were identified. This study advances understanding of Achaemenid decorative practices through material analysis.
