Summary

Research at Prambanan Temple, one of Indonesia's most visited UNESCO World Heritage Sites, reveals a substantial economic multiplier effect. The study found that every 965,630 IDR spent by an average tourist generates approximately 6.52 million IDR in total economic impact for the local tourism sector—a Keynesian income multiplier of 6.75. This indicates significant economic benefits for surrounding communities, with each tourist creating four job opportunities. The findings were derived from a mixed-methods approach, analyzing data from 100 tourists and 10 informants representing local businesses and workers. The study highlights Prambanan's role as a driver of economic welfare in Yogyakarta, addressing a gap in heritage tourism impact research.
