Summary
Adaptive reuse models (ARMs) offer a promising strategy for preserving the cultural significance of historic bazaars, such as Tabriz’s Ground Bazaar, while addressing functional obsolescence caused by urban expansion. This study demonstrates that ARMs can enhance cultural sustainability by revitalizing local commercial typologies through strategic rehabilitation. Using SWOT analysis—a quantitative research approach—it evaluates how adaptive reuse could restore the bazaar’s social and economic roles, countering its diminished relevance in modern society. The findings highlight the potential for ARMs to bridge heritage conservation with contemporary urban needs, ensuring long-term preservation without compromising cultural identity.
