Summary
A sustainable ecotourism project within the Natural Etna Park is more likely to succeed when local residents are actively involved in its design and community leaders promote environmental education programs. The study, conducted through a 23-item Likert-type attitudinal scale and factor analysis, reveals that without local support, policymakers are less inclined to back such initiatives. This research provides a validated tool to gauge residents' perceptions of ecotourism development, highlighting the critical role of community engagement in fostering sustainability within protected areas.
