Summary

This groundbreaking study introduces the Ancestry Index ($I_A$), a mathematical framework that quantifies morphological and symbolic affinities among Neolithic rock-cut hypogea across the Mediterranean. Using multi-proxy GIS modeling, satellite archaeometry (Sentinel-2, WorldView-3), and micro-LiDAR data, the research identifies the Ozieri cultural network in Sardinia as the unparalleled epicenter of hypogeal architecture during the 4th–3rd millennium BCE, with $I_A = 1.000$. The study also precisely maps six synchronous maritime diffusion vectors linking Sardinian sites to others in France, Malta, and Sicily (e.g., Ħal Saflieni), while mathematically excluding unrelated or anachronistic structures (e.g., Palmela, Dalyan). By deconstructing the 'glossonomical bias' that historically fragmented Mediterranean archaeology, this work offers a unified, data-driven paradigm for studying trans-Mediterranean cultural connectivity. The methodology is formalized as Linked Open Data (CIDOC-CRM/ISO 21127), providing a replicable framework for future research.
