Summary

A tenth-century fragment of the Metrical Calendar of Gambera (MCG) has been identified, providing a second witness to this significant medieval text. The fragment, discovered as part of a seventeenth-century book binding, contains metrical text and computistical data nearly identical to those found in the Gambera Missal, which dates to around 1500. Paleographic analysis suggests the fragment originates from the Lake Constance region and likely belongs to the second half of the tenth century, aligning with the Ottonian period. This discovery strengthens the connection between the MCG and the Abbey of St. Gall, offering new insights into the calendar's origins and its historical significance.
