Summary

A high degree of color harmony between Victor Horta's Art Nouveau masterpieces and their natural surroundings was uncovered, with 92.5% of the 251 architectural samples matching the predominant hues found within a 700-meter radius. This discovery underscores nature as a pivotal inspiration in Horta's chromatic palette, validated through meticulous comparative analysis of interiors and façades from The Tassel House (1893–1894) and The Horta House (1898–1901). The study employed archival research, field surveys, and the Natural Colour System® chart to systematically compare 251 architectural samples against 307 environmental ones. Such precision in color selection not only enriches our understanding of Art Nouveau's aesthetic principles but also highlights Horta's innovative approach to integrating natural inspiration into urban design.
