Summary
A complex geological and thermal history of the Takab Range Complex, located in the Arabia-Eurasia collision zone, is revealed through low-temperature thermochronology (LTT) data. The study identifies distinct phases of exhumation, magmatic activity, and tectonic deformation spanning from the late Cretaceous to the Miocene epoch. Notably, it highlights the significant impact of magmatic reheating on LTT ages in areas affected by intense magmatism, challenging traditional interpretations of cooling events. Researchers used a combination of apatite and zircon (U-Th-Sm)/He and apatite fission track data, field observations, numerical thermal modeling, and re-evaluation of existing geochronology to unravel this intricate history. The findings underscore the importance of understanding the geothermal field through time in interpreting LTT data in magmatic and metallogenic provinces.
