Summary
A two-way detrimental relationship exists between climate change and agricultural practices, with emissions from agriculture exacerbating global warming while climate change stresses farming systems. This study advances understanding of how to implement adaptive measures in Öland's agriculture, addressing 'what,' 'where,' and 'how' while considering carrying capacity constraints and maladaptation risks. Using a GIS-based framework, researchers identified nutrient surplus and discharge hotspots—critical areas for intervention. In-depth interviews and surveys explored perceptions on resource management and adaptation strategies, refining an analytical model to guide planners, advisors, and farmers. The findings aim to develop robust, sustainable, and climate-smart interventions to mitigate negative climate impacts in agricultural landscapes.
