Summary
A new analysis of the inscriptions on the Agora-Pfeiler (TL 44) from Xanthos-Letoon confirms that the pillar was likely erected by Cherẽi, not Cheriga. The study also refines the chronology of military actions mentioned in the inscriptions, suggesting battles occurred no later than 428 BCE and other events no later than 424 BCE, aligning with the reign of Artaxerxes I (465–424 BCE). It identifies Ddenewele as Cherẽi's son and successor, clarifies the name of Harpagos' son in Greek verses, and proposes that a woman named Muni may have been Cherẽi's wife. The research reconciles these findings with Müseler's chronology of dynastic coins, though it notes inconsistencies with other dynast names mentioned on the pillar.
