The study examines the application of BIM, H-BIM, or GIS technologies for preserving heritage sites like Genoa's Palazzo Belimbau, emphasizing that informatics tools must serve broader research goals rather than overshadow them. It highlights the need to clarify terms such as 'model,' 'knowledge,' and 'ontologies' within the tension between holism and reductionism, ensuring rigorous and balanced approaches in historical preservation efforts.
