Summary

A groundbreaking annotated checklist identifies 115 bird species on Jicarón and 53 on Jicarita, the southernmost islands of Panama's Coiba National Park. This marks the first comprehensive survey beyond Coiba Island, revealing 23 new records for the park, including 10 endemic subspecies and 29 migratory species—seven of which are warblers. The study highlights the conservation significance of these understudied islands, with the Brown-backed Dove, Rufous-tailed Hummingbird, and Bananaquit emerging as dominant species. By addressing critical knowledge gaps in Panamanian island avifauna, this research underscores the ecological importance of Coiba's peripheral islands for biodiversity preservation.
