Summary

Web GIS technology significantly enhances the digitization and promotion of historical destinations, as demonstrated by its application to Historic Cairo. This study reveals that Web GIS platforms, such as ArcGIS Server, can streamline tourist navigation, improve access to cultural heritage data, and support local authorities in planning and decision-making. By creating interactive digital maps, the approach enables precise identification and analysis of geographical and touristic attributes, contributing to sustainable tourism development. The findings underscore the potential of Web GIS to bridge gaps between tourists, heritage sites, and local governance, offering a scalable model for preserving and marketing UNESCO World Heritage Sites globally.
