Summary

Extensive surface survey data from the Teotihuacan Mapping Project (TMP), conducted in the 1960s, remains one of the most detailed records for an ancient city. This study highlights how TMP's spatial, descriptive, and artifactual data have been instrumental in investigating Teotihuacan's culture and history over decades. The analysis demonstrates the utility of such data for studying urban organization, including neighborhoods and social districts, while also emphasizing the growing importance of preserving these records as parts of Teotihuacan face increasing threats from urban sprawl and destructive agricultural practices.
