Summary
This study introduces the concept of 'unscharfe Erinnerung' (blurred remembrance) as a novel approach to reconstructing lost architectural landmarks, specifically the Bauhaus Master's Houses in Dessau. The research presents an alternative to both integral reconstruction and preservation of the status quo, offering instead an evocative reinterpretation that preserves historical integrity while providing a contemporary interpretation. Inspired by philosophical works from Borges and Sugimoto, the design by BFM Architekten Berlin uses volumetries and scales to recover the potential unity of the artwork without falsifying historical evidence. This method was applied in the 2014 reconstruction project, demonstrating its feasibility as a third pathway for heritage conservation.
