Summary
A comprehensive framework for conserving cultural and natural heritage in Central Italy, particularly focusing on the UNESCO World Heritage Site of San Gimignano, has been developed to address climate change vulnerabilities. The study highlights that integrating the European Landscape Convention with territorial planning can enhance the unity and effectiveness of conservation efforts, providing new opportunities for adaptation policies. By assessing the value of heritage resources at a territorial scale, this approach helps define conservation priorities, evaluate vulnerabilities, and optimize funding allocation. This integration is shown to strengthen climate change resilience while aligning with broader European heritage protection goals.
