Summary
A lost municipal archive from the second half of the 14th century, likely housed in Lviv's town hall, was destroyed in a fire in 1381. This discovery sheds light on the early administrative and documentary practices of late medieval Lviv, revealing that the town hall served as both the center for chancellery activities and the repository for important documents until the end of the 15th century. The study reconstructs the evolution of the municipal archive's location and the town hall's role in shaping its administrative functions based on historical chronicles and town books.
