Summary

A recent study has uncovered five new species of Hydroptilidae, a family of caddisflies, within the Wet Tropics of Queensland. The newly described species include Orphninotrichia barbarae, O. desleyae, O. alata, Orthotrichia rentzi, and O. andicairnsae. Additionally, the research extends the known distribution of one species from each genus, providing new insights into their biodiversity. The study also offers brief remarks on the probable classification of Orphninotrichia and deduces biological information based on collecting data. This discovery significantly contributes to our understanding of the region's aquatic insect diversity.
