Summary
Dryagin’s char (Salvelinus drjagini) from Lake Sobachye on the Putorana Plateau exhibits distinct morphological and demographic traits compared to Boganid char, making it a promising candidate for aquaculture. This subspecies is characterized by a wider body, with mature fish reaching up to 27.9% of their body length in height. It also features 112–133 perforated scales along the lateral line and 21–29 gill rakers on the first gill arch. Analysis revealed that Dryagin’s char reaches sexual maturity at 6 years, with a prolonged maturation period extending to 8–9 years. The study found that its fecundity ranges from 3,833 to 18,270 eggs, strongly correlated with fish mass (r = 0.83) and size (r = 0.77). Despite similar maturation times, Dryagin’s char’s larger size makes it more advantageous for native species introduction in aquaculture, particularly in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
