Summary

Archaeological excavations at Spišský hrad, Slovakia, have uncovered ceramic fragments linked to the Mierzanowice culture, dating back to the late phase of this prehistoric group. The findings include distinctive zonal cord ornaments, wavy-line negatives, and triangle-shaped stamp ornamentation, providing direct evidence of cultural connections between eastern Slovakia and the Polish Carpathians. Unlike previous studies, this research highlights the presence of earlier Mierzanowice culture phases through left-inclined cord imprints, offering new insights into the region's prehistoric settlement patterns. The study analyzed secondary deposits from past reconstructions, revealing a rare ceramic inventory that bridges the San river valley and Raba-Vistula regions, thus expanding our understanding of this multicultural site.
