Summary

A transboundary network of six protected areas spanning Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, and Tajikistan has been established to advance conservation and sustainable development along the Silk Road. The Bam-e-Dunya Network, formed through a regional workshop in Lanzhou, China (2018), aims to strengthen ecosystem management and biodiversity protection across the Hindu Kush-Karakoram-Pamir Landscape (HKPL). This initiative, led by ICIMOD and Lanzhou University with input from global experts, seeks long-term collaboration among park officials and international partners. The network focuses on integrating conservation efforts while addressing development challenges in one of the world's most ecologically significant regions.
