Summary
A 2023 study of Cua Luc Bay, Ha Long Bay, Vietnam, revealed that dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and particulate organic carbon (POC) concentrations averaged 1.59 ± 0.21 mgC/L and 0.74 ± 0.35 mgC/L, respectively—levels notably lower than those in other Vietnamese rivers and estuaries. The analysis of DOC/POC and POC/Chl-a ratios indicated significant fluctuations in the bay's water environment, suggesting dynamic carbon cycling processes. Researchers surveyed 22 stations to assess organic carbon variation, providing insights into the marine carbon system's behavior in this UNESCO-listed region.
