Summary

A semi-automated methodology for 3D façade modelling of cultural heritage assets has been developed, leveraging parametric and procedural modelling techniques with airborne and terrestrial laser scanning data. This approach significantly reduces the time and resources required for traditional architectural surveys while maintaining high accuracy in documentation. The methodology was successfully implemented using an open-source software environment and applied to a 16th-century Ottoman structure, Sinan the Architect’s Şehzade Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey. By combining advanced laser scanning technologies with procedural modelling, this study advances the field of cultural heritage documentation, offering a robust and efficient solution for preserving historical structures.
