Summary

Sensory engagement emerges as a pivotal factor in homemaking and heritage preservation within the Lemko region's cultural landscape. This study reveals that multisensory experiences—beyond visual perception—play a crucial role in shaping personal space and driving actions toward landscape conservation, particularly in areas with depleting cultural heritage. The research highlights how internal migrants' sensorial interactions with their environment contribute to the preservation or reinterpretation of ethnic architecture, such as wooden tserkvas (churches). Through qualitative interviews with domestic migrants, the study maps multisensory elements that define this heritage-rich landscape, offering a nuanced understanding of how people create and sustain cultural identity through sensory engagement. This approach challenges conventional visual-centric analyses, emphasizing the importance of embodied experiences in heritage conservation.
