Summary
A comprehensive taxonomic list of mayflies (Ephemeroptera), stoneflies (Plecoptera), and caddisflies (Trichoptera) from the Sikhote-Alin Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Russia's Far East, reveals 220 species inhabiting its streams. This first-ever compilation for Central Sikhote-Alin includes 63 mayfly species, 61 stonefly species, and 96 caddisfly species, providing critical baseline data for ecological assessments. The study, spanning 1980–2013, analyzed over 30,000 specimens to document biodiversity in pristine conditions, offering insights into aquatic ecosystem structure and environmental quality indicators. This EPT (Ephemeroptera-Plecoptera-Trichoptera) complex serves as a valuable tool for monitoring anthropogenic impacts on this biodiverse region.
