Summary

A groundbreaking discovery of thirty previously undocumented deer stones from Khuvsgul Province, northern Mongolia, sheds new light on the diversity and regional characteristics of Bronze Age Deer Stone culture. Notably, 90% of these monuments lack animal depictions, a rare feature in this tradition, while several exhibit exceptionally rare bola weapon engravings. The Shiveet deer stone stands out with unprecedented artistic elements: a belt adorned with multiple suspended objects, a diadem rendered as small circular hollows, and three circular depressions symbolizing the typical oblique lines. These findings, documented during 2022–2023 field seasons, provide critical evidence for understanding stylistic variations and cultural development in northern Mongolia's Deer Stone monuments.
