Summary

A long-term archaeological collaboration between Lebanon, Spain, and Poland has shed new light on the historical significance of Tyre, helping the ancient city reclaim its prominence in the Levant and Mediterranean. The project, spanning over 25 years, focuses on two key sites: the Iron Age cemetery of al-Bass and the acropolis of the ancient island. Through extensive excavations and analysis, researchers have uncovered insights into Tyre's history from its foundation in the third millennium BCE to the present day. This multidisciplinary approach has not only advanced our understanding of Tyre but also opened new avenues for research, solidifying its importance as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
