Summary
Preserving the soundscape of Great Zimbabwe's cultural landscape is crucial for sustaining intangible heritage and maintaining deep connections between people and place. This study demonstrates that integrating soundscape conservation into heritage management can enhance tangible heritage preservation while preventing cultural erosion. By examining local communities' use of sound to preserve memory, researchers highlight the importance of a holistic approach that goes beyond material culture. Events at Great Zimbabwe have shown that soundscape preservation not only represents intimate connections but also strengthens the overall conservation effort.
